Polygraph Tests
OVERVIEW:
The examiner Magdaleen Eckley received her international accredited
training from the American International Institute of Polygraph in
2006. Magdaleen has attended annual continuing education as required
by the American Polygraph Association. She is an associate member of
the South -African Professional Polygraph Association (SAPPA) and
the American Polygraph Association (APA), the controlling body for
the polygraph industry worldwide which requires their members to
follow a code of conduct. The examiner adheres to the stringent
ethical codes governing the polygraph profession. The questions are
formulated according to APA approved question techniques in order to
effectively address respective elements concerning the case. The
questions are adapted to ensure the examinees full comprehension of
the questions.

when conducting a test.

WHAT IS THE POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION?
Polygraph records three measures: respiration, electro dermal
activity; cardio and sometimes movements to detect certain physical
countermeasures.
INSTRUMENTATION UTILISED
During the polygraph examination, the Examinee will be connected
to a Lafayette - LX 4000 computerized polygraph system which
simultaneously record thoracic and abdominal breathing,
electro-dermal activity as well as relative changes in pulse rate,
pulse amplitude and blood volume. Countermeasures will be monitored
and measured using the Pneumatic Activity Sensor Seat.
PRE-TEST INTERVIEW
• Advise the examinee of
his/her rights, both legal & polygraph rights. Discuss the case
facts with the examinee.
• Assess examinee’s ability to take the
polygraph test (mental & medical history)
• The examinee signs
the consent form as well as the agreement of cooperation during the
polygraph test.
• Generate and review test questions.
